2023 Annual Ministries Report
Willingdon Church

Outreach Highlights

Jen Mascardo - New Missionary

Willingdon has the joy of having a new missionary on missionary team, Jen Mascardo. Jen was first invited to Willingdon as a high school student. She came to faith in Jesus as a result. After high school she completed some WSBM courses and the Ministry Apprentice Program at Willingdon. Next she completed a degree at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford. She now serves with Youth Unlimited in Abbotsford, reaching out to vulnerable youth in partnership with local churches and schools.

Willingdon House - New Ministry

In 2023, Willingdon Charitable Holdings Society, purchased and renovated a house close to the church. We now partner with Journey Home, running this as a transitional home for recently arrived refugee claimants. Since opening in June 2023, 30 people have been in the house so far representing 6 different families. During kids Summercamp last summer we were able to accommodate 5 children from the Willingdon House (Muslim families) who participated in the weeklong camps. The mother would not even step in to the church at the beginning of the week but by the end of the week was walking the kids into the church, engaging with staff, and hanging around for a bit each day!

A New Sense of Life Purpose

One of our long-time members came to see House of Omeed and was struggling with the transition to retirement. He now volunteers there twice a week and says he feels totally renewed and God has given him a new purpose.

Brazil Testimony

Samantha Alexander has gone on several short-term mission teams to Brazil. Went again in March 2023 and received an invitation to come back longer term to provide some intentional children's ministry support. In early 2024 she has headed to Brazil again for several months to serve, in an effort to discern whether God is inviting her to serve long-term.
