A Family Worshipping Together

Whether it was our first-ever Family Day Weekend Service, having Kids Min songs and actions upstairs for “in-service” family worship Sundays, or singing “main service” congregational songs in Sunday School, 2022 saw an increased intentionality to worship together as a whole family.

  • Prayer Summits having ‘prayer stations’ similar to HQ
  • Collaboration meetings that include kid-friendly components to services
  • Greater overlap between songs sung upstairs in service and downstairs in kids programs
  • Creating Kids Ministry supplemental booklets/activity guides to help walk through service liturgy in age-appropriate ways
  • Kids choir!

Ignite Girls Club

We created and launched IGNITE Girls Club, written and developed in-house by Kids Ministry Staff and Volunteers, to help shepherd and inspire the girls of Willingdon to keep their hearts ablaze for Jesus!

The unique makeup of families at Willingdon posed unique challenges for our girls club – ministry leaders were looking for something Biblically and theologically rich, age-appropriately engaging and fun, and something with meaningful application in our local context. Other curricula failed to meet all 3, and so after a year of writing and developing, IGNITE was launched in September 2022.

Under the Big Top

We welcomed 1476 of our church family, friends, and neighbours to come enjoy some games, food, and fun!

A key part of our evangelism strategy is to provide engaging opportunities for people to spark conversations and have a glimpse of what it means to be in community. Showcase the fun, wide variety of people who showed up: staff all hands on deck, student min volunteer army, kids of all ages with parents and grandparents. Include footage of the “gospel stations”, where we introduced concepts of God’s Love, Hope, Joy, Peace as opposed to the ‘worldly’ versions of each.
