Summer Strum

July 6 - August 3

Looking for something fun to do, or just want to learn a new skill this summer? Guitar is a fun instrument to learn that has many applications in many different styles of music.  Grab a friend to sign up with you and come learn how to play with Pastor Mark! All lessons will be held on-site at the church in a group socially distanced setting, and best of all: it's FREE!

Classes are open to students who were in grades 6-9 during the 2020/2021 school year. They will run for 5 Tuesdays, from July 6-August 3. In order to accommodate as many students as possible, we will offer two sessions per day. You can sign up for either the 12:30-1:30pm timeslot or the 2:00-3:00pm timeslot. The material taught in each timeslot will be identical, and is suited to beginners.

What you can expect to learn

Anatomy of a guitar
How to tune a guitar
Guitar maintenance
How to change your strings

Basic guitar chords

Once your spot has been secured, you will need to acquire:

- A playable acoustic guitar. If you don't own one, you can borrow one from a friend, or rent one for cheap from Long & McQuade- more info below.
- An extra set of strings.
- If you have a tuner, please bring it along but if not, you don't need to buy one.

Need to rent a guitar?

Guitar rentals are available from Long & McQuade for as low as $13/month.

There are various locations around the lower mainland to serve you. The closest one to the church is the North Vancouver location- just over the Second Narrows bridge. Take a look at the link to see which store is closest for you!

Registration will open here on Friday, May 7!
