As we go through life, we all experience what I will call “marker events,” events that mark us in such a way that we remember them forever. Events that profoundly shape our lives. Some marker events are the difficult things we experience, while others are our high points. Jesus’ first adult “marker” event was His baptism. His baptism was a public declaration of His identity as the Messiah, as affirmed by God, His father. It was God’s joy to affirm His son with identity and affirmation at Jesus’ baptism. Today’s message explores the significance of Jesus’ baptism and the implications for each person who chooses to follow Jesus in baptism.
