Intro:

Many followers of Jesus treat the Bible as the rulebook for the game of life. But is that good or is that bad? And is it really that simple?

For example, some of us here this morning believe that “If the Bible says something, it must be true. And if it’s true, I must obey it. So why are we having this conversation?”

But there are others of us here who are at the opposite end of the continuum, and we say that “Um, no, I’ll determine truth for myself, thank you very much, and don’t even think about trying to tell me what to do.”

These two viewpoints don’t work well together.

And of course, there are all kinds of other ideas and opinions in between, sometimes based on worldview, sometimes based on good or bad experiences that we’ve had, and sometimes just because, well, that is what everyone else seems to think.

So how do we figure this out?
