Canadian society is changing rapidly, and publicly expressing Christian faith seems more challenging than ever before.

How do we faithfully engage with our culture and institutions as servants and witnesses of Jesus? What do we do when we see anti-Christian policies promoted in politics, education, business, medicine and other areas of public life?

Come for biblically faithful and thought-provoking presentations provided by Ray Pennings, co-founder of Cardus, a leading Canadian think tank. His work focuses on the public dimensions of faith, especially as it informs the work of the full range of social institutions and their contribution to the public sector.

Friday, January 31 (7-9pm):
Ray Pennings will be delivering a public lecture titled: “Christian Engagement in the Public Square: Bearing Witness in a Complex Moral Landscape.”

Saturday, February 1 (9am-12pm):
Three workshops will focus on particular elements of operating as believers in our public areas of life.

1. Shining as Lights within the World of Educational Pluralism (Ray Pennings)
2. The Willingdon Church Approach to Public Issues (Willingdon Pastors)
3. Charities Under Pressure in the Public Square (Ray Pennings)

About Our Speaker, Ray Pennings:
As co-founder of Cardus, Ray Pennings authors Cardus Insights, a popular weekly newsletter written to provide engaged citizens with resources for faith, leadership, and public life.

In addition to his own punditry, Ray leads a team of social entrepreneurs at Cardus who are thinking through challenges such as overcoming social isolation, cultivating public virtue, and enhancing freedom in diverse contexts, contributing to the conversation with research and data reports, public commentary, and facilitated events. Ray holds a Masters Degree in Theology from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. He has been a life-long member of the Free Reformed denomination where he served as an elder, clerk of Synod, and as a licensed exhorter.

Ray and his wife Kathy are based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

There is no cost for this weekend, but you must register to attend. On registration, please note you will be able to select just the Friday lecture, or the lecture and the workshops.
