Sessions during our camp include...

Tennis
Even if you’ve never picked up a tennis racket before, you’ll enjoy the fun drills, games, and exercises led by Coach John Yalowica. A graduate of the Dennis Van Der Meer Tennis University in Hilton Head, South Carolina), Coach John has over 30 years of experience, including teaching tennis classes at local public and private schools here in the Metro Vancouver area. Coach John and his wife Helen have been part of the community at Willingdon for many years, including serving and singing in the choir.

2D and 3D Art
Pastor Jono Caramay loves to create art: “I believe making and creating things is a part of how God created us!” Before becoming a pastor, Jono was an elementary school teacher who graduated with a B.Ed. and B.A.in Art History and Visual Art. Whether it’s drawing, painting, sculpture, or collage, a fun time will be had as you create your own masterpieces during the course of the week.

Dance and Movement
Together we’ll be exploring movement and discovering different genres of dance! Through dance games and a short choreography combo, we’ll learn some basic aspects of jazz, hip hop, musical theatre, and lyrical/contemporary dance. This workshop will be taught by Emily Lien, who is on staff on the Kids Ministry team at Willingdon. Emily has danced and performed in a variety of genres and styles since age 3. She loves to incorporate movement as a way to worship and express herself.

Music
We will be appreciating music through engaging activities that help us explore the elements of music, such as rhythm, beat, and melody, and participating in live music through singing and playing percussion while we learn about the different styles of music. This session will be led by our Kids Ministry staff team member, Pia Flores. Pia has been involved in many musical areas, from strings, symphonic, and jazz band, as well as chamber choir. Music is one of her favourite ways to worship God and connect with others.
