The Willingdon Benevolent Freezer provides a blessing to people in need in the form of a meal. Examples of those blessed: seniors, widows or widowers experiencing recent loss, those who are ill, recovering from surgery or undergoing cancer treatment, and new mothers coming home with a newborn from the hospital.
The Willingdon Benevolent Freezer meals are prepared by volunteers and stored in the Benevolent Freezer. Care Ministry, Outreach Ministry, and Pastors distribute the meals to those in need.
How Can You Participate:
Meals can be prepared as you cook for your family, by cooking extra and setting some aside for the Benevolent Freezer. Or, meet with your Life Group and make meals together for the freezer.
Preparation Details:
Examples of meals prepared: casseroles, chicken, meat or vegetable soup, pasta dishes, stews, complete meals such as potatoes or rice with meat and vegetables. Baked goods like cookies, muffins, cake or pie are welcome too.
Please consider that many people consuming the meal may not feel well, therefore please refrain from using spicy or unusual ingredients
How Often and Where Should I Drop off Meals?:
Volunteers provide meals at whatever frequency is convenient for them. Please consider adding your name to the Benevolent Freezer Volunteer list so we may send periodic updates when the freezer is too full, or when it needs replenishing.
Meals may be brought to the church office during weekday office hours, or placed in the third floor kitchen freezer during weekend services
