Cynthia is church planting with Multiply in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. She overseas a skill training program called Freedom Trades which entails going into the Juvenile Detention Centre each week, teaching Bible and teaching a marketable trade. Most of the young girls are arrested for selling and doing drugs. She supports the work and vision of her national leader, coming alongside to disciple young women who have been released from Juvenile Detention and entered into internships with Naomi House (a church plant and sewing ministry) and Shalom farm (a church plant and sustainable agriculture program).
Ministry Description:
Cynthia is church planting with Multiply in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. She overseas a skill training program called Freedom Trades which entails going into the Juvenile Detention Centre each week, teaching Bible and teaching a marketable trade. Most of the young girls are arrested for selling and doing drugs. She supports the work and vision of her national leader, coming alongside to disciple young women who have been released from Juvenile Detention and entered into internships with Naomi House (a church plant and sewing ministry) and Shalom farm (a church plant and sustainable agriculture program). Cynthia is faithful to follow up with girls who have been released and need support and encouragement as they start over after having been incarcerated for 2-4 years. Most of the young girls come from broken families and need counsel and mentoring and encouragement so they will not end up back in detention.
Prayer Requests:
- Pray for continued favour with the Juvenile Detention Centre, the guards and the girls as we teach the Bible each week; for the skill training program to continue to find teachers and volunteers who are willing to commit to the program, for resources to continue to grow the skills training program and internship opportunities.
- Pray for the growing vision of Freedom Trades (FT) ministry. Naomi House is one branch of FT; a sewing house and church plant that gives opportunities to these young girls for full time work and disciples them up to be worship leaders, who can lead cell groups and teach others. Shalom Farm is another branch of Freedom Trades (FT) teaching about agriculture and farming so they can return to their village and support their families. Pray for the these small church plants, their dicispleship and leadership training.
- Pray for the growing vision of the Shalom Farm, the traning and the finances needed to support more interns coming out of Juvy.
- Pray for Cynthia and Maceo who are now in a completely Thai team; pray for vision and health and strength as they encourage their team and let the Lord lead them.
