Whenever people walk into a church, they have several questions on their minds. Questions such as: Will I find friends here? Will I find answers to my faith questions? Will this community walk with me through the challenges I face? Will I meet people who will help me discover who Jesus is and what a relationship with Him looks like? Will I be able to grow in my faith and understanding of God here? These are all great questions. We’re here to walk with you to find answers to your questions and to grow your understanding of what it means to know and follow Jesus and to love people like Jesus loves people.
Willingdon exists to guide all those who call this church home to “know Jesus Christ personally and to carry on His ministry.”
Knowing Jesus personally is a description of a relationship that begins when we choose to respond to His grace and follow Him. We have developed a 4-phase pathway to help you identify where you are in the journey of knowing Jesus personally and following Him. The questions we’ve developed around each step of the pathway will help you identify your place in your spiritual journey.
The second half of Willingdon’s mission expresses our desire to live out the truths Jesus taught and the life He invites us to live. It is putting our relationship with Jesus into action. In addition to the pathway, we have provided different opportunities to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus and to learn how to carry on His ministry.
As you read through the pages, take time to consider where you are in your spiritual journey and which group context would be the best place to grow in your faith and relationships.
Discipleship Ministries Team Leader
Discipleship Pathway Classes
We have some great training opportunities coming soon to help you grow as a follower of Jesus. I will be providing training on Discipleship Groups, Bible Journaling, Evangelism, and leading Community Groups.
Following Jesus grows out of a personal, vibrant walk with Christ. If you do not have spiritual practices that rooted in Bible reading I encourage you to pick up a Bible Reading Journal and let the Holy Spirit speak to you through God’s Word. I also encourage you to pray and ask God how he wants you to share what you’re learning with others. Who has he placed in your life that you could either share the good news of Jesus Christ with or who you could perhaps initiate a Discipleship Group with?
I look forward to hearing what God is doing in and through you in the coming months.
