Our Preschool Ministry provides an engaging, supportive and inclusive environment
for our children to grow in the knowledge and understanding of God.
Through Bible stories, puppet time and praise songs each week, children are invited to experience God’s love and learn how to follow Jesus. As we teach our children to keep God’s Word in their hearts, each week we encouraged families to be intentional in memorizing the memory verse together.

I AM | THE GREAT PHYSICIAN
This week we are looking at God as our Great Physician – a very good doctor who can help fix people’s illnesses and injuries. When Jesus healed the man who couldn’t walk, he actually also healed him of a worse problem… his sin. He forgave Him, making not only his body better on the outside, but making his heart better too on the inside! God can do that for us too because He is the Great Physician.

I AM | Son of God
Jesus didn’t stay a baby – he grew up! As we remember everything we celebrated at Christmastime, we remember that it was only the beginning of the story: Jesus is God’s Son – but fully God – come to live with us and show us the way to God. As we enjoy a worship weekend, let’s remember that we can come close to God because of Jesus!

Cookie Recipe
[Find the original source here]
Ingredients
- 2 and 1/4 cups (281g) all-purpose flour (spoon & leveled)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional, but makes the flavor outstanding)*
Directions
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a medium bowl. Set aside.
- In a large bowl using a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugar together on high speed until completely smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes. Add the egg, vanilla, and almond extract (if using) and beat on high speed until combined, about 1 minute. Scrape down the sides and up the bottom of the bowl and beat again as needed to combine.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix on low until combined. Dough will be relatively soft. If the dough seems too soft and sticky for rolling, add 1 more Tablespoon of flour.
- Divide the dough into 2 equal parts. Place each portion onto a piece of lightly floured parchment paper or a lightly floured silicone baking mat. With a lightly floured rolling pin, roll the dough out to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use more flour if the dough seems too sticky. The rolled-out dough can be any shape, as long as it is evenly 1/4-inch thick.
- Lightly dust one of the rolled-out doughs with flour. Place a piece of parchment on top. (This prevents sticking.) Place the 2nd rolled-out dough on top. Cover with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, then refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours and up to 2 days.
- Once chilled, preheat oven to 350°F. Line 2-3 large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats. Carefully remove the top dough piece from the refrigerator. If it’s sticking to the bottom, run your hand under it to help remove it– see me do this in the video above. Using a cookie cutter, cut the dough into shapes. Re-roll the remaining dough and continue cutting until all is used. Repeat with 2nd piece of dough. (Note: It doesn’t seem like a lot of dough, but you get a lot of cookies from the dough scraps you re-roll.)
- Arrange cookies on baking sheets 3 inches apart. Bake for 11-12 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges. If your oven has hot spots, rotate the baking sheet halfway through bake time. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before decorating.
- Decorate the cooled cookies with royal icing. Feel free to tint either icing with gel food coloring. No need to cover the decorated cookies as you wait for the icing to set. If it’s helpful, decorate the cookies directly on a baking sheet so you can stick the entire baking sheet in the refrigerator to help speed up the icing setting.
Welcome to December!

This month, our calendar goes along with our weekend videos and themes for Advent! Try these activities with your family and encourage your friends and loved ones to do the same – it’s a great way to feel connected and grow together in our walk with God. Remember- it’s not about completing a month-long list… it’s about taking time to intentionally pray for, love, and serve the people around us as an act of worship to God. Here are some more helpful ideas for this month’s activities:
Prayer:
When we pray, we get to talk to the Lord of the universe, and he listens! Prayer is a powerful and important part of our relationship with God. You may have noticed that we have suggested going on a prayer walk; what is that? A prayer walk is more than just walking around while praying, but a way of praying for our communities. As you walk around your neighbourhood, let the things you see prompt you to pray; for example, if you walk by a bus stop, you could pray for safety for bus drivers! You could also thank God for the things you see around you and pray for the people who live and work in the buildings you pass. Try praying aloud as if God were walking with you and you were just having a normal conversation with him, or pray quietly in your heart as you walk. Either way God can hear you and he is with you wherever you go.
Service:
Serving is a great way to show God’s love to others. When we serve, we show the people around us what God and his people are like! Serving can be simpler than you think, and it’s important to not only think about how we can serve strangers or neighbours, but also how we can serve the people closest to us, like our families. Can you think of something you can do this month to serve the people you live with?
Reflection:
There are different ways to reflect, but it is important to think about what God has been doing and teaching you in your life. A good starting point is the Bible- when we think about who God is, and what he has done, it can often remind us of situations that we’re going through. Other suggestions we have given you include talking with your family, and journaling. Take time to ask the people around you about times when they learned about God, and take the time to share what God has been teaching you! Stories about what God is doing can be very powerful and encouraging, so don’t be afraid to ask and/or share!
Much love,
Willingdon Kids Ministry
