I Timothy 6:3-10

At the heart of today’s Bible passage is the statement that some people imagine that godliness is a means of gain. To put it another way, some people foolishly believe their faith will result in earthly riches. They dream of what Janis Joplin sang of so many years ago, “Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz.” To them, if faith doesn’t pay off in this world, they are not interested. Today we will not only learn proper Christian attitudes toward money, but also how Christian faith transforms our world view from being a short term, short sighted, me-centered religion, to an eternal, Christ centered approach to wealth and money.
