Matthew 26:31-44

In the Old Testament, the High Priest had a very unique function. He was given a unique task, that of entering God’s presence on behalf of the people. No one else could perform that function, it was his alone. Jesus, as our Great High Priest has an even greater role. What he did for us, was for him alone to perform. Today we will consider the uniqueness of Jesus, in that there can be no other savior. We will also consider the crushing weight that he alone was called upon to bear. No one else could help him, walk with him or add their encouragement. This weight as our Great High Priest was for him alone, and as we shall see, the loneliness of his role had a crushing weight.
