Finishing The Work

Acts 1:1-11

Over the Easter Season, we have been reminded of the gospel. According to 1 Corinthians 15, the gospel is that Christ died for our sins, that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day. That forms the content of all we believe and preach.

But we also know that after being raised from the dead, Christ spent 40 days with his disciples, and then ascended into heaven. If it were not for the final phase of Christ’s earthly ministry, it seems unlikely that the church would have begun. What Christ did during those 40 days provided us with three things necessary for finishing the work he had begun.
