Ruth 3:1-18

The Kids have highlighted the central issue, the central issue in the Bible, in our lives, and in the world around us – the central issue is the glory of God. The Reformers – which led to Bible based churches – and the evangelical movement stated the issue this way, they said it in Latin, “Soli Deo Gloria” – God’s glory alone.

That’s why this church exists, for God’s glory alone, and we must fight – fight very hard – to make sure that nothing in our minds, or in our practice, or in our sermons or songs or programs should diminish this.

I think – the greatest challenge we will ever face is to fight for God’s glory alone. It is the great challenge,in our thinking and in our acting to turn that around, to begin to think big thoughts of God and small thoughts of man. What a battle in our own mind, in our own worship and prayer, in our own actions to achieve this. But this is the goal we strive for.

Soli Deo Gloria. God’s glory alone.
