Romans 16:1-16

Within a very short period of time, from the time of Jesus to the close of the first century, the Christian gospel had expanded so rapidly that it was changing the world. Sometimes we assume this success was largely due to leadership. After all, the early church had Paul, Peter, John, Barnabas and Silas, Timothy and Titus. It is true that the Holy Spirit raised up great leaders, but that is only half the story. The other half of the story, are the names and faces of people we have long forgotten, but will meet in eternity. They served according to their giftedness, and many paid for their devotion to Christ in trials of great suffering. Today, in advance of eternity, we will meet a few of them, and their stories will inspire us, as we seek to be faithful in our day.
