The little book of Habakkuk (3 short chapters) is overwhelming in what it addresses. It pictures a prophet enquiring of God. Why don’t you stop evil? This question is an individual question, but it is also a philosophical question. It bears with it the strain of the person going through deep pain, and the person who would understand how God can be loving, all powerful, sovereign, all knowing and good and yet allow wickedness to continue. The book of Habakkuk is an invitation to think about things we may never have thought of before, but it is also a personal call to holiness and worship.
