I Believe in a Big God

Psalms 139:1-18

We live in a day of a shrinking God. God, of course, is not actually shrinking but people’s perceptions of Him are. God always seems to do well in popular opinion polls in the sense that the majority of people believe in Him, but probe a little deeper and it becomes evident that the kind of God many people believe in is a lightweight god. This conception of God is far different than the God we encounter in the pages of the Bible. As Christians, we do well to remind ourselves of the “bigness” of God as He is presented in Scripture. If our reflections on God fill us with anything less than awe, it’s probably because we have settled for a diminished god.
