Matthew 1:1-17

Christmas, at least the way it is celebrated in our culture, has always seemed like a paradox to me. On the one hand, it trumpets the turning point of human history. On the other hand, it is so filled with feel good romantic fiction combined with commercialism, that it looses all significance. As we begin a new series in Matthew, we are forced to confront the question of authenticity. Is it really possible to speak of the real thing at Christmas in such a way, that the story is altogether life transforming? We think it is.
