Matthew 6:1-8; 16-18
Sometimes there are people who marry others, not out of love, but so that they can get that person’s money. We refer to these people as “gold diggers” because we rightly see their motives as crass and self-serving and an affront to the central values of marriage. In the passage that we will look at today, Jesus warns us not to have the same attitude when it comes to our relationship with God. Instead when we enter into a personal relationship with God we receive a greater reward than we could ever imagine and experience the joy that comes out of a life-giving relationship.
