For Paul, the purpose of the Christian life can be put into one easy phrase. He wants to know Christ completely, perfectly, and fully. In order to show how he wants to attain this, he gives 2 images. The first is the image of aggression, such as in battle. The second is the image of a race. Both images suggest competition, struggle, training and resolve. But because of that, some assume this requires waiting, not striving. So today, let’s clear up the fog. What is the goal of the Christian life? And how do we attain that goal? And how are we to make progress to that goal?
