service
December 15, 2024
Two weeks ago, the Austin Heights church family was celebrating communion. As people were filing forward to receive the bread and the cup, Brett Landry, our campus pastor, stood to the side. He had already signaled to those present that he would be willing to talk to anyone who was not a Christian and wanted to know more about the gospel message.
After the service, a couple walked up to him and said, “We want to convert.” Just like that? Can anyone just step forward and say, “We want to join the family. We want to be children of God”!? Who has the right to become sons and daughters of God Almighty?
The reason the couple was standing before Pastor Brett Landry, asking to convert, was clear – the witness of the husband’s parents. His parents had come to faith in North Vancouver and their transformation was remarkable. Two weeks ago, the couple was saying, “We want what they have, whatever that is!”
There is something here that they cannot do for ourselves.
Reflection Questions:
How has Jesus shone his light (truth, favour, goodness) on you recently?
How grateful are you to be a son or daughter of God?
How would Jesus want to shine his light through you this Christmas Season?
