Intro

1 Peter has so much to say to us about “Living in the Real World” today. At the time of the writing of this letter (about 60 AD), there was not widespread, systematic persecution, but to be a Christian had psychological, social, and economic consequences. Followers of Jesus were often slandered and dishonored.

Peter’s first readers had questions. How should we respond when suffering evil and injustice at the hands of family, church members, neighbours, work colleagues, and the government? When we are wronged, is there a way to respond that we know is within God’s will?  Do we just passively wait for God’s justice or is there some positive action we can take?

These are also your questions and my questions when we believe we have been wronged.
