In every culture, and with each generation, food brings people together. Birthdays, wedding ceremonies, festivals … gathering around a meal unites us to one another.
Our language groups share meals to remember their countries of origin, and your life group might share a meal to remember an important moment in your spiritual journey together. In our passage today, people share meals for different reasons.
As we enter chapter 26, it is Tuesday evening of Passion Week. Jesus has just completed his discourse on the Mt. of Olives, saying his brothers and sisters are those who identify with Him and his disciples when they are vulnerable (hungry, thirsty, naked, sick, imprisoned).
Who will honour Jesus when he is vulnerable? Who will be Jesus’ brother in his darkest hour, when he is “the least of these”?
