Intro

At Pentecost, 2000 years ago, the Father sent the Spirit to indwell his people and the church of Jesus Christ was born. And then, 60 years ago, on May 22nd, 1961, the local expression of that now global church of Jesus, at 4812 Willingdon Avenue, was birthed.  So where should we go in Scripture on this Pentecost weekend?

Today we go to the prayer of Jesus in John 17. This chapter is not just any collection of words. Here we have the most intimate hopes and desires of Jesus expressed. We enter the intimacy of Jesus sitting with the Father. We have a prayer Jesus prayed for us 2000 years ago. What do we learn about Jesus’ heart for us?
