Easter Service 2024
I love spring!
There’s nothing like a breath of fresh air as you walk through the woods after a long, dark winter. The crocuses, daffodils, cherry blossoms. Leaves are breaking out of branches that appeared to be dead. So many signs of new life.
But then, sometimes it’s spring, yet it feels like winter. The flowers are gone. The leaves have fallen. 2000 years ago, the season is spring, but it feels like winter.
On a hill outside of Jerusalem, Jesus hangs from the cross. He breathes his last breath.
The Roman centurion stands there, facing Jesus’ crucified body. Have you been there for someone’s last breath? Whatever you believe, no matter what the season, that moment will make you pause and ponder.
How can we process these moments? What gives us hope for the person who died and for ourselves?
