Flowing out of the mission of Jesus, Youth Unlimited relationally engages in holistic work with vulnerable youth in partnership with the church and the community. We hope to see vulnerable youth experience abundant life in Christ (John 10:10).
Jen is a youth worker in the South Asian community of west Abbotsford. Growing up in a Filipino household and a diverse community in Burnaby, she sees it as a privilege to serve among a different culture. Most youth and families she connects with are Punjabi with a Sikh faith. The youth are in need of positive role-models and holistic relationships. Jen leads a girl’s ministry that involves mentoring young girls, engaging with their families, and hosting girl’s events. She aims to create a space for youth to feel accepted, encouraged, and loved. She also partners with the local middle school and high school as a lunch supervisor, an afterschool program leader, and a coach. She desires to serve faithfully in prayer, using her God-given gifts to build long-lasting relationships with the community through mentorships, family ministry, and church partnerships. 2018 was the year it all began and God has continued to open doors for Jen to stay involved in this community. A volunteer with Youth Unlimited in 2018, a summer worker in 2020, an intern in 2021, and on staff by early 2022.
