Big Rocks for 2024 Part 2

Intro

1 Peter 4:7 “The end of all things is at hand.” That is a true statement. Are we saying it is true because of the War in Gaza, the realignment of global powers, the move to digital currency, or the advance of artificial intelligence? No.

Does it mean that we should extract ourselves from society and move to northern Canada, where the government will never find us? No. We live with a sure hope, “because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining” (1 John 2:8). It is more than possible to shine like stars in our generation.

“The end of all things is at hand” means that all the major events in God’s salvation plan have already happened: the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, and the birthing of the church of Jesus Christ. In other words, we have already been living in the “last times” since the resurrection and ascension of Jesus.

All that is left is the making of disciples of all nations, the return of Christ, the end of human history on earth as we know it, and the final judgment. The end is at hand.

What should we prioritize in light of the end being at hand?

  1. Be attentive, not absent.
  2. Be hospitable, not hidden.
  3. Serve, don’t sit.
