Matthew 4:18-25

When Jesus calls a man or woman, he calls him or her unto himself. The great difficulty is that there are many kinds of followers. As we all know, the crowds that followed Jesus were often fickle, enthusiastic one moment, ready to abandon and criticize him the next. But from the very outset of his ministry, Jesus made it plain that his calling was an invitation to abandon all for the kingdom of heaven. Today, we will examine the nature of Christ’s call – both the general call to all, and the effective call to his own.
