As I walk around the stage, and look into the boxes, I find all kinds of hidden treasures. Jesus has something for us today. Jesus invites us to come to Him. Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Come. One of His favorite words. He doesn’t say come to religion, to church, or to spirituality. He invites us to come to Him, to trust Him personally, to walk with Him.
And, the invitation is to all of us. Who are we? We are those “who labor.” We’re the weary, the working, and the tired. We’re the “harassed and helpless.” We’re the ones who cannot get up by ourselves. We are the mentally and emotionally distressed.
We’re weary because of an unfair boss, an uncaring spouse, an overbearing parent, or maybe a rebellious child. Our family and work relationships tire us. We’re weary because of the injustice, pain, and sorrow of our world. We sometimes struggle to continue.
You probably have a question today, “How will I ever get out from under the oppressive burden of the yoke I am forced to carry every day? Will I ever be able to rest?”
